Sony Xperia Z Receives Teardown by FCC

In a process that is required for it to be approved before going on sale within the United States, the FCC has performed a teardown of Sony's Xperia Z smartphone.

The smartphone, which made quite the impression during CES, is currently scheduled for a worldwide launch sometime during the quarter one of 2013.

The device sports a 5-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a glass front and rear, a 13.1-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot and an HDMI port. It's powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, as well as 2 GB of RAM.

Its operating system, meanwhile, is Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. However, Sony has confirmed that the device will be upgraded to the latest version of Google's mobile platform soon after launch.
